I'm very excited to announce that my good friend Kevin Wallace and I are in the process of putting together a new project for 2009. Kevin and I have worked together for the last three and a half years as members of the Vivid Image Band. I will cover guitar and vocal duties while Kevin brings his keyboard prowess as well as his wonderful vocals to the mix. This duo project will be part acoustic, part electric and all fun. We decided that musically anything goes so no genre, style or decade will be off limits. We began rehearsals in early January and have put together a few sets of material and we’ll continue to add tunes as things progress and evolve. We already have one gig under our belt and have more dates on the calendar. See the “Upcoming Dates” section and come out and visit us at your local restaurant, coffee shop or bar. Stay tuned for more info as things develop.

Gotta Love December
We're two gigs into the month and having a ball. We played a corporate Christmas Party this weekend near the airport. I thought I'd post a video from the gig. Let me know what you think.

Moving into Fall
Vivid Image is getting ready for a busy Fall and holiday season. October is booked up and the rest of the year is filling in nicely. We already have New Years Eve and at least one Christmas party on the books. It's shaping up to be a great 4th quarter for the band.

I'm Officially Old
I'm a grandfather. Jensen Beck Israel was born 9/19/08 at 10:18am, 8 lbs 2 oz. He's perfect and mom and dad are doing ok too. They tell me I'm now "pop pop" but oddly enough, I don't feel any older? Below is a video that I put together set to Phil Collins "You'll be in my Heart".

Opened for CCR
Vivid Image had the good fortune to open for CCR at a small local outdoor amphitheater this past Saturday night. Yes, I know that's "Creedence Clearwater Revisited" and yes, I know that John Fogerty doesn't tour with the band but it was still a blast. In spite of all that they really did sound great. The vocalist "John Tristao" really nailed Fogerty's vocals to a tee. We got to listen to their soundcheck and got to meet the band afterwards. Seemed like a really nice bunch of guys. The sound company really went out of their way to work with us in spite of the fact that we were the opening act. The crowd really responded well to our set. To top things off we had a second gig immediately afterwards playing for a private party just five minutes away. All in all just a great evening.

Rocking the Mansion
Vivid Image's first gig of the year went off without a hitch. We played outdoors on the terrace of the Fountainview Mansion (... and I do mean "Mansion"!) this past Saturday for a wedding reception in Auburn, Alabama. The weather cooperated and we had a great gig. The bride & groom and the rest of the wedding party danced till the last tune. It was a tough loadout though. I didn't get to bed until 2:45am and I could really feel it the next day (...man, am I getting old!). Also, I just got a call today from a friend who had double booked his band and we now have a gig for this coming Saturday night (...life is good!).

VIB Gearing Up for 2008
Vivid Image has been rehearsing the last few week getting ready for upcoming gigs starting in April. It's been a lot of fun getting together again after taking January and February off. First gig this year is a wedding reception so we've had a couple of special requests (..first dance, father/daughter dance...) we've worked up. We've also worked up a couple of new tunes to keep things fresh. I can't wait to get things rolling this spring and summer. Keep an eye on the "Upcoming Dates" section.
