Hitting the Gym

Just finished my 5k treadmill run at the gym. I've been trying to get in two to three runs a week and I feel like it's beginning to pay off. My times are improving and I just feel better during and after my run. My primary goal is just to keep my heart healthy and to burn up some calories. Anyway so far so good.

Deluxe Nashville Tele

I haven't played my Deluxe Nashville Tele in quite some time. The action was just a mess and it was buzzing most anywhere above the twelfth fret. I had been meaning to get it in to the shop for a setup for some time now but just never seemed to get around to it. So I decided to roll up my sleeves and do the setup myself. After a slight tweak on the truss rod, bridge saddle height and intonation she's playing beautifully again. Now I'll just have to give her a workout at church Sunday morning.

Update: Played her Sunday morning and now I remember how much I enjoy playing this guitar. We did a four song worship set and I think I used four of the five pickup positions and each one just shined. I'll definitely be working her back into the Sunday morning rotation.

First Annual "Senoia Social"

I had the good fortune to spend the day at the first annual Southern Ground Senoia Social this past Saturday, June 15th in Downtown Senoia, Georgia. If you weren't there you missed an all-out block party filled with good music, great food and a whole lotta fun! Best of all, this event benefitted Zac Brown's Camp Southern Ground.

Camp Southern Ground is the passion project of GRAMMY-Award winning musician Zac Brown. The Camp's mission is to operate a camp to allow children to overcome academic, social and emotional difficulties so they may reach their full potential.

Living on the Edge

Surreal: (adjective) having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic.
"Surreal" is probably the best adjective that I can think of to describe my most recent adventure. After several years of "one of these days....." my oldest daughter Melissa and I finally broke down and went skydiving. Yes I know it was tandem with a professional but bottom line, you still have to walk over to an open door and jump out a perfectly good airplane at 14,000 feet. I know now what the term "adrenaline junkie" means. It was. fantastic, terrifying and addictive all at the same time. ... and I'm doing it again this summer with both my girls this time.

I have have been blessed to be apart of the Worship Arts team at SouthCrest Church in Newnan, GA for about the last year along with my buddy (...and the other half of Kevin & Mike) Kevin Wallace as well a large group of very talented musicians, vocalists and sound and lighting technicians. It has been an awesome experience. I am posting a video of a recent worship set below. Please come out and visit us at SouthCrest Church this Sunday morning. Special thanks to Kevin Pledger for the posting the YouTube video. http://southcrestchurch.tv/
